Marbled Silk Scarf Workshop

In this 3-hour workshop led by artist Sabine Spare, students will learn the fundamental materials and techniques for marbling on fabric, including how to set up a marbling bath, how to prepare fabrics, the best fabrics and inks to use, and different patterning techniques.

Fabric marbling is an ancient pattern-design technique in which pigments are dropped on a thickened liquid surface and a monotype print is made from the resulting design.

Students will go home with a marbled silk scarf, a series of marbled cotton samples, detailed fabric marbling instructions and the confidence to pursue marbling further.
